Hugeioh
A downloadable game for Windows
Play huge monster cards, each bigger than the last and reduce your opponent’s life points to zero. A tongue and cheek satire of card game anime shows of the 2000s.
Featuring melodramatic voice acting and original art for 15+ cards. This game was created as part of the 'Make Me Laugh' Global Game Jam of 2024. (Mouse only input.)
HOW TO PLAY
-On each of your turns, you may play one card by dragging it on to any space of the left grid.
-Your AI opponent will play cards from their hand into the right grid.
-Regular sized cards are free to play.
-Larger cards have 1-2 skull icons and cannot be played unless you have 1-2 of your spaces filled. Play that large card over those occupied spaces to sacrifice any cards in them and pay for your card.
-A single card with one skull can be sacrificed to play a card with two skulls
-On each of your turns, you can move to your attack phase using the orange 'go to attacks' button. You can then attack with EACH of your cards in play.
-You may choose an attack to be directed at the opponent’s life points or any enemy card in play.
-A card’s left stat is it’s attack stat, it subtracts with other card’s right stat with the shield symbol.
-Cards are destroyed when their shield stat reaches zero.
-Click on your card and then the character art to attack the enemy’s life points.
-Click on your card and then click on the enemy card you wish to attack with that card.
-BEWARE: Attacking a monster will allow it to hit your monster back using its attack stat.

I definitely like the idea and the concept is close to part of the game I was working (cards taking up more space to represent size and scale).
I did encounter a glitch though. Since two-skull monsters take the whole field, you can't play new cards until they die. That's fine, but then when you skip the Play a Card Phase (because you can't play cards) into the Attack Phase, the Phase is still locked into Play Cards Phase (says "Play a Card" in the corner still) and won't let you click on your monster to attack with it. End Turn is your only option and it just gets attacked each turn with you unable to do anything unless you can play a card. Also, I couldn't seem to sacrifice Two-Skull Monsters backdown to One Skull so I could at least attack again. (I already know you can sacrifice a One-Skull for another One-skull to use the monster before death, because I did it.)
I imagined this works just fine as a tabletop version, albeit having to figure out the card size part. I thought about using bigger blank template cards to test it rather than smaller blank cards to fill the spaces but both would work.
Surprisingly hard to get the bug cards out but very worth it for UltraMechaNovaRex. The voicelines got me good!
Thank you for the kind comment! One chuckle and it's all been worth it :)
Epic!
Thank you, you're a legend!
